Soccer Recap: Pitman Finds Playoff Glory Versus Westmont

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Pitman walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the Westmont Warriors 3-2. Given the Pride's advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Warriors are ranked 150th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pitman is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 34 goals over those ten contests. This is the second loss in a row for Westmont and nudges their season record down to 14-7.

Looking ahead, Pitman will welcome Cardinal Newman at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Pitman has won four straight at home, while Cardinal Newman won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Westmont does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
