Basketball Recap: Oakton Comes Up Short

Oakton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 69-64 heartbreaker at the hands of the Centreville Wildcats. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

It was another big night for Jaxson Davis, who posted 18 points in addition to six assists and three steals for Centreville. Davis' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Maddox Davis was another key player, going 5 for 9 en route to 16 points.

Oakton's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Centreville, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Coming up, Oakton will face off against James Madison at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Centreville, they will host Chantilly at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Centreville is facing Chantilly at the right time seeing as Chantilly is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
