Recap: South Bend Clay Colonials vs. LaVille Lancers

After flying high against the Trinity Titans on Thursday, the South Bend Clay Colonials came back down to earth. South Bend Clay took a 32-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of LaVille. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for South Bend Clay in their matchups with LaVille: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the loss, South Bend Clay still got an impressive performance from Delilah Castaneda, who scored 12 points. Castaneda scored a full 44.4% of South Bend Clay's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

South Bend Clay struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as LaVille racked up 11.

LaVille's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Weil, who scored 13 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Weil has scored at least 25% of LaVille's points. Brooke Edison was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 assists.

South Bend Clay bumped their record down to 1-10 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.5 points per game. As for LaVille, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.

South Bend Clay will head out on the road to face off against Concord at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Concord focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Saturday. As for LaVille, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Winamac at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Winamac focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 35 on Thursday.
