Basketball Recap: Oswayo Valley Comes Up Short

Oswayo Valley was the 46-44 winner over Port Allegany when they last played one another last Wednesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Oswayo Valley Green Wave took a 50-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Port Allegany Gators on Friday. While the Green Wave didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Gators 16-12 in the first quarter.

Port Allegany's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jarrod Funk, who went 5 for 11 en route to 15 points and seven rebounds. Nick Wilfong was another key player, putting up 12 points and eight boards.

Oswayo Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Port Allegany, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oswayo Valley has already played their next contest (against Cuba-Rushford), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Port Allegany will venture away from home to square off against Kane at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Port Allegany is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.6 points per game this season.
