Volleyball Recap: Gretta Beck's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sandpoint over Lewiston

If Sandpoint was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Lakeland last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs fell 3-1 to the Lewiston Bengals on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Bengals: they've now lost nine in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-18, 20-25, 25-16.

Sandpoint lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Gretta Beck, who had 11 digs and four aces. She has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Averi Mire, who had 17 assists and five digs.

Sandpoint's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Lewiston, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Sandpoint will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Moscow at 7:00 p.m. on October 7. As for Lewiston, they will square off against Lake City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
