After a string of five wins, the Wayne Country Day Chargers's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Goldsboro by a score of 49-46. Wayne Country Day was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Goldsboro apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.
Goldsboro's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Des'Myah Croom, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Croom's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Nashiyah Williams was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wayne Country Day will take on Coastal Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Coastal Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 412th, while Wayne Country Day is ranked 163rd). Goldsboro and Wallace-Rose Hill will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
