Baseball Recap: Monmouth-Roseville Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Monmouth-Roseville's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Putnam County Panthers 6-4. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Titans as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Landyn Angelo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Angelo was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Ty Moore was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one triple and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nick Huston, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Monmouth-Roseville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Monmouth-Roseville's victory bumped their record up to 8-19. As for Putnam County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-11 record this season.

Monmouth-Roseville will welcome Annawan-Wethersfield at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Putnam County, they will venture away from home to take on Henry-Senachwine at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
