Football Recap: Salem Wildcats vs. Centralia Orphans

Salem had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 42-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Centralia Orphans. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Orphans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trey Clark, who rushed for 192 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.1 yards per carry. Another signal caller making a difference was Kaeden Bevolo, who threw for 174 yards and three touchdowns.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Salem will head out to challenge Benton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Centralia, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season. they square off against Collinsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
