Preview: Stonington Bears vs. Windham Whippets
Stonington is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Windham is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Stonington Bears will take on the Windham Whippets at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Stonington took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 61-27 victory over Griswold. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Stonington has posted against Griswold since December 22, 2018.
Windham posted their biggest victory yet this season on Saturday. They breezed by Lyman Memorial at home to the tune of 77-37. Given Windham's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Lyman Memorial is ranked 101st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Stonington has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Windham, their victory bumped their record up to 10-1.
Stonington might still be hurting after the 66-40 loss they got from Windham in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Windham's Jaelize Rivera, who scored 20 points along with five assists and five steals.
