Basketball Recap: Cleveland Wins High-Profile Game Against La Cueva

On Wednesday, Cleveland faced La Cueva in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Cleveland Storm took down the La Cueva Bears 69-50. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Storm also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, La Cueva saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Maddox Taylor posted ten points and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Taylor has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Hunter Butler, who had ten points.

The win made it two in a row for Cleveland and bumps their season record up to 10-2. As for La Cueva, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-6.

Cleveland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 93-63 loss against Sandia on the 10th. La Cueva has also already played their next game, a 79-66 victory against Atrisco Heritage Academy on the 10th.
