Basketball Recap: Hobgood Charter Takes a Loss

Hobgood Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a hard 65-48 fall against the Northside - Pinetown Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 610th, while the Panthers are ranked 262nd).

Despite the loss, Hobgood Charter still got an impressive performance from Hudson Roberson, who went 10 of 19 on his way to 24 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Tutor, who posted five points and five steals.

Leading Northside - Pinetown to victory were Malachi Moore and Nick Moore. Malachi went 10 of 18 on his way to 22 points along with five boards and three steals, while Nick went 5 of 9 on his way to 15 points. Nick has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Zanek McCloud was another key player, putting up six points and five rebounds.

Hobgood Charter's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Northside - Pinetown, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hobgood Charter will host Mattamuskeet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hobgood Charter is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51 points per game this season. As for Northside - Pinetown, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Southside at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northside - Pinetown will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
