Baseball Recap: College Park Falls Short of Junipero Serra in the Playoffs

College Park and Junipero Serra squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but College Park had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Padres by a score of 2-1. If the Falcons were looking for revenge after losing 7-4 to the Padres when the teams met back in April of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

James Voorhies was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. He has become a key player for College Park: the team is 9-3 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Desmond Cobb was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for College Park and nudges their season record down to 17-12. As for Junipero Serra, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 27-6.

College Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Junipero Serra, they will challenge Los Gatos at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Padres 2.7, the Wildcats 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
