Softball Game Preview: Narbonne Gauchos vs. Jefferson Democrats

The Narbonne Gauchos will take on the Jefferson Democrats at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Narbonne has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Narbonne is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 22 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Carson on Thursday. They lost 18-1 to the Colts.

Meanwhile, Jefferson made easy work of West Adams on Wednesday and carried off a 14-4 win. The Democrats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Jefferson got a massive performance out of Melanie Garcia, who went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Garcia is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jodecie Funes, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

Jefferson pushed their record up to 9-5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Narbonne, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-7 record this season.
