Baseball Game Preview: Izard County Cougars vs. Cedar Ridge Timberwolves

The Izard County Cougars will take on the Cedar Ridge Timberwolves at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Izard County will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

While Izard County's victory against Salem wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cougars skirted past the Greyhounds 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since April 24, 2024.

Xander McCandlis was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Braxton Mccandlis also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Cedar Ridge unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Highland by a score of 8-7.

Izard County pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Cedar Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.
