Volleyball Recap: JC Bermudez Doral Makes It Five in a Row at Home

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but JC Bermudez Doral had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Divine Savior Academy Sharks, sneaking past 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Thunder: when they faced off against the Sharks two weeks ago, they had to take a 3-1 defeat.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day JC Bermudez Doral got the one that really mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 23-25, 25-13, 21-25, 15-13.

Divine Savior Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Kevin Chen and Santiago Lopez Farina. Chen had eight digs and two aces, while Lopez Farina had 18 kills, 13 digs, and one block. Lopez Farina is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had five or more in each of the last nine games he's played.

JC Bermudez Doral pushed their record up to 14-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Divine Savior Academy, they moved to 13-7 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Coming up, JC Bermudez Doral will face off against King's Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Thunder surely won't give up without a fight. Divine Savior Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
