Basketball Recap: Jackson Christian Piles Up the Points Against Tekonsha

A well-balanced attack led Jackson Christian over Tekonsha in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Jackson Christian Royals blew the Tekonsha Indians out of the water with a 63-33 final score. The Royals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 26 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jackson Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rennie Huff, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten boards. The contest was Huff's sixth in a row with at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Ella Boll, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds.

Jackson Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Tekonsha's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emily Rizo, who posted six points and seven boards. Reagan Henry was another key player, putting up seven points along with six rebounds and five blocks.

Jackson Christian has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.3 points over those games. Tekonsha's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jackson Christian will host Camden-Frontier at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tekonsha, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Burr Oak at 6:30 p.m.
