Baseball Game Preview: Howard Tech Hustlin' Tigers vs. East Hamilton Hurricanes

Howard Tech is 0-3 against East Hamilton since April of 2024 but things could change on Monday. Howard Tech will look to defend their home field against East Hamilton at 7:00 p.m. Howard Tech is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Howard Tech turned things around against Tyner Academy on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Rams.

Devon Holten-McKinney made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Howard Tech is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise. Holten-McKinney was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2.

Holten-McKinney wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sean Besley, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Anthony Fullilove was another, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, East Hamilton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Silverdale Academy.

East Hamilton now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Howard Tech, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Howard Tech has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like East Hamilton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Howard Tech suffered a grim 20-0 defeat to East Hamilton when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Howard Tech avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
