Basketball Game Preview: Lexington Yellowjackets vs. West Davidson Dragons

Lexington is 9-1 against West Davidson since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Lexington Yellowjackets will head out to face off against the West Davidson Dragons at 7:30 p.m. Lexington is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.9 points per game this season.

Lexington saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a hard 81-67 fall against Oak Grove. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 385th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 183rd).

Despite the loss, Lexington got top-tier performance from Nick Blyden, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 20 points. Those 20 points gave Blyden a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rahzel Ewart, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, West Davidson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They fell 52-42 to East Davidson.

West Davidson's record is now 1-12. As for Lexington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.

Lexington came out on top in a nail-biter against West Davidson in their previous meeting back in February, sneaking past 44-42. Will Lexington repeat their success, or does West Davidson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
