Basketball Recap: Anson Takes a Loss

Anson lost against Parkwood back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Anson Bearcats were beaten by the Parkwood Wolf Pack 59-19. The matchup marked the Bearcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Destiny Lindsey was Anson's leading scorer, having posted five points. Komoria Chambers held things down on the boards with six rebounds. Layla Britt took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Parkwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brooke Fowler, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 13 points and six steals. Fowler is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jordan Vaughn, who posted 13 points and three steals.

Anson now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Parkwood, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-11.

Anson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-32 loss against West Stanly on the 14th. As for Parkwood, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Piedmont at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th.
