Baseball Game Preview: Jesuit Marauders vs. Whitney Wildcats

The Jesuit Marauders will take on the Whitney Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Jesuit 3.7, Whitney 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Jesuit's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when Rocklin hitters got past them. The Marauders lost 13-2 to the Thunder on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Marauders have suffered since April 5, 2024.

Teddy Rios was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, Jesuit saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Lipp, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Whitney hadn't beaten Oak Ridge on the road since May 18, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Wildcats walked away with a 4-1 win over the Trojans. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by exactly three runs.

Zach Laduzinski looked comfortable as he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for Whitney and bumps their season record up to 7-9. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Jesuit, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-5 record this season.
