Volleyball Recap: Apollo Hawks vs. Valley Vista Monsoon

Apollo got their first taste of in-conference action on Tuesday and they started things off strong. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Valley Vista Monsoon.

The final score came out to 25-19, 26-28, 25-17, 25-20.

David Flores paced Apollo's offense, picking up 11 kills. Flores got some help from Abraham Carranza and his 23 assists. Carranza was also solid from the service line: he led the team with four aces.

Despite the defeat, Valley Vista had strong showings from Roman Kelly, who had 12 digs and two assists, and Isaiah Austin, who had 20 kills, nine digs, and one block. Austin is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had six or more in each of the last nine games he's played.

Apollo's victory bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Valley Vista, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.
