Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fairfield Union). Everything went their way against the Vinton County Vikings on Wednesday as the Fairfield Union Falcons made off with a 77-55 victory. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while the Vikings are ranked 527th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fairfield Union's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Vinton County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairfield Union will take on Bloom-Carroll at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fairfield Union knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Bloom-Carroll likes a good challenge. As for Vinton County, they will square off against River Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Vinton County is facing River Valley at the right time seeing as River Valley is stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
