Basketball Recap: Ansley/Litchfield Takes a Loss

Ansley/Litchfield won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Saturday. They took a blow against the Stuart Broncos, falling 64-28. The contest marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Ansley/Litchfield lost, don't look at Luke Bailey. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards. That was a full 46.4% of Ansley/Litchfield's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Leading Stuart to victory were Gavynn Mustin and Kayde Ramm. Mustin went 7 of 11 on his way to 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Ramm went 5 of 12 en route to 11 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. Mustin has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 22 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Tubbs, who put up 11 points along with five boards and three steals.

Ansley/Litchfield now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Stuart, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Ansley/Litchfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 49-46 win against Sandhills/Thedford on the 31st. As for Stuart, they will venture away from home to take on West Holt at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. West Holt will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Stuart surely won't give up without a fight.
