Softball Recap: Jackson-Milton Has No Trouble Against Memorial

Jackson-Milton was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Memorial on Tuesday. The Bluejays put the hurt on the Red Devils with a sharp 15-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bluejays, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Brena McBeth made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). McBeth was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grace Johns, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Emma Johns, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one triple.

Jackson-Milton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .591. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Memorial only posted a batting average of .100.

Jackson-Milton is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Memorial, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Red Devils beat Jackson-Milton by a score of 6-5 later that day.
