Football Game Preview: Canyon Lake Hawks vs. Taylor Ducks + How To Watch

The Canyon Lake Hawks will square off against the Taylor Ducks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Canyon Lake took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They snuck past Pleasanton with a 17-13 win. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.

The critical scores for Canyon Lake came from Gram Simpson and Chris Brown.

Meanwhile, Taylor didn't have too much trouble with Travis on Friday as they won 34-16.

Taylor's win came from a few key players Canyon Lake will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Eric Walker Ii, who rushed for 114 yards and two scores. He is becoming a predictor of Taylor's success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is 5-2 (and 0-3 when he doesn't). Elijah Afenkhena was another key player, picking up 94 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Canyon Lake's record is now 7-3. As for Taylor, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Canyon Lake has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 163.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Taylor struggles in that department as they've been averaging 195.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Canyon Lake was dealt a bruising 66-28 defeat at the hands of Taylor in their previous matchup back in October of 2023. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
