Basketball Game Preview: Euclid Panthers vs. Cleveland Heights Tigers

Having just played yesterday, the Euclid Panthers will get right back to it and host the Cleveland Heights Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with 16 losses in a row dating back to last season, Euclid turned things around against Garrett Morgan on Friday. They blew past the Falcons 44-22. The Panthers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Cleveland Heights was able to grind out a solid win over Brunswick on Tuesday, taking the game 49-42. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Blue Devils are ranked 356th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cleveland Heights' win came from a few key players Euclid will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Robbie Caldwell, who went 7 for 12 on her way to 15 points. Sanai Alexander was another key player, going 5 of 10 en route to 14 points.

Cleveland Heights smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Cleveland Heights is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Euclid, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-11.
