Baseball Game Preview: John Jay Patriots vs. Arlington Admirals

The John Jay Patriots will head out on the road to take on the Arlington Admirals at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. John Jay will come into the match with an undefeated record on the line.

On Friday, John Jay was able to grind out a solid win over New Rochelle, taking the game 4-1. The four-run effort marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Anthony Batkay spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Arlington came up short against Ketcham on Wednesday, falling 15-2. The Admirals haven't had much luck with the Storm recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Arlington saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was George Simou, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Simou has brought in this season.

John Jay's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Arlington, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. John Jay hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. However, it's not like Arlington struggles in that department as they've averaged .346. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
