Soccer Game Preview: May River vs. Gray Collegiate Academy

The May River Sharks will head out on the road to take on the Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with May River sitting on four straight wins and Gray Collegiate Academy on seven.

May River is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past North Augusta 2-1.

Talan Liedtke and Humberto Rodriguez Velasquez scored both of May River's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 24 goals.

Meanwhile, Gray Collegiate Academy kept a clean sheet against Brookland-Cayce on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 4-0 margin over the Bearcats. The result was nothing new for Gray Collegiate Academy, who have now won 18 matches by three goals or more so far this season.

Gray Collegiate Academy's win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those 11 games. As for May River, their win bumped their record up to 19-7.
