Softball Recap: Northeastern Eagles vs. Currituck County Knights
Northeastern extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-5. They came up short against the Currituck County Knights, falling 14-0. The Eagles were not able to make up for their loss to the Knights from their previous meeting back in March of 2025.
As for Currituck County, their record now sits at 4-5. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the game before.
For Currituck County's part, Julia Twine made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Twine has posted since back in May of 2025. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Morgan Eisel and Amelia Cervantes did most of the damage at the plate: Eisel went 2-for-3 with six RBI and one double, while Cervantes got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those six RBI gave Eisel a new career-high. Avery Cartwright also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
While Northeastern had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
