Hopewell had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They secured a 74-70 W over the Mallard Creek Mavericks on Saturday. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Mavericks recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Hopewell's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kyle Broughton, who shot 75% from the field en route to 17 points in addition to six assists and six steals. Broughton is on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last seven games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mj McKinney, who went 6-for-7 to rack up 17 points and five boards.

When it comes to explaining why Mallard Creek lost, don't look at Ahmad Savage. Despite the final result, he posted 20 points. Another player making a difference was Kingston Cardwell, who put up 11 points.
