Baseball Game Preview: St. Agnes Aggies vs. Breck Mustangs

The St. Agnes Aggies will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Breck Mustangs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

On Thursday, St. Agnes came up short against Heritage Christian and fell 11-7.

Breck's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Blake on Friday. Everything went the Mustangs' way against Mounds Park Academy as they made off with a 15-5 win. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.

Dylan Montgomery Baker tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lucas Schellhas, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasper Thompson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Breck always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Breck's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for St. Agnes, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
