Basketball Recap: Mulberry Grove Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Mulberry Grove had lost four straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-6 to make it five. They had to suffer through a 67-34 loss at the hands of the Father McGivney Catholic Griffins. While losing is never fun, the Aces can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 512th, while the Griffins are ranked 177th).

Despite the loss, Mulberry Grove still got an impressive performance from Connor Hartmann, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 11 boards. Jermey Herrin also deserves some recognition as he pulled down his first board of the season.

As for Father McGivney Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Carson Barone was nothing short of spectacular: he shot 60% from the field on his way to 17 points and six steals. Those 17 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Willenborg, who went 5-for-9 to rack up 14 points.

Coincidentally, Mulberry Grove and Father McGivney Catholic will both be playing Hillsboro the next time they take the court. The Griffins will head out to face the Hiltoppers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Aces will head out to face them at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
