Waynesville's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Carroll Patriots. The win was some much needed relief for the Spartans as it spelled an end to their four-match losing streak.

The victory didn't come easy: Carroll scored at least 19 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-20, 20-25, 27-25.

Cali Layne paced Waynesville's offense, picking up 22 kills. Layne got some help from Katilyn Hanshaw and her 40 assists. Ella Thompson controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Waynesville's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Carroll, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.

Waynesville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Dayton Christian on the 30th.
