Basketball Recap: Clinton Prairie Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Clinton Prairie can now relate to. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 42-41 to the Carroll Cougars. The Gophers' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Clinton Prairie lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Alexis Perez, who went 5 of 8 en route to 13 points and five rebounds. Those 13 points gave Perez a new career-high. Hyleigh Wilson was another key player, putting up seven points and five boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Carroll to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emily Justice, who went 5 for 7 on her way to 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jillian Salts, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.

Clinton Prairie's defeat dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Carroll, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.

Clinton Prairie does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Carroll, they will square off against Clinton Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
