Basketball Game Preview: Draper APA Eagles vs. Judge Memorial Catholic Bulldogs

The Draper APA Eagles will square off against the Judge Memorial Catholic Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Draper APA has five straight wins, Judge Memorial Catholic has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Draper APA is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Summit Academy: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Draper APA blew Summit Academy out of the water with a 72-20 final score. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 21 points or more this season.

Draper APA had a senior duo take command as Samantha Kartchner dropped a double-double on 27 points and 19 rebounds and Aaliyah Baldwin almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Kartchner has scored at least a third of Draper APA's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Bluth, who posted eight points in addition to six assists and four steals.

Draper APA was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Summit Academy only racked up four assists.

Meanwhile, Judge Memorial Catholic played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Grantsville 59-28. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-16.

Draper APA is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Judge Memorial Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Draper APA barely slipped by Judge Memorial Catholic in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, winning 66-65. The rematch might be a little tougher for Draper APA since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
