Soccer Game Preview: Mountainside vs. Sunset

The Mountainside Mavericks will take on the Sunset Apollos at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Mountainside's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Mountainside's offense. They fell just short of Beaverton by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Mountainside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon soccer rankings (they are ranked 51st, while Beaverton are ranked sixth).

Meanwhile, Sunset hadn't done well against Jesuit recently (they were 1-7-1 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Apollos beat the Crusaders by a goal, winning 2-1.

Sunset's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3-2. As for Mountainside, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5-1.

Everything went Mountainside's way against Sunset in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Mountainside made off with a 4-0 victory. Do the Mavericks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Apollos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
