League recap: Howard throws longest pass in league this season for Clear Creek

Jordan Howard and Chandler Morgan provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Middle Park. The longest such play in 1A Metro this season, the connection resulted in 96 yards.

Estes Park was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Bobcats defeated Highland 44-20.

Clear Creek's dynamic duo of Howard and Morgan proved to be unstoppable against the Panthers, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Howard threw for 260 yards and 2 touchdowns and Morgan had 143 yards receiving. Jared Cook helped Clear Creek's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 62 yards.

The Golddiggers' dynamic duo of Howard and Morgan proved tough for Middle Park to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Morgan was the best wideout in the league this week as Clear Creek beat Adam Bright's team.

Drew Davis was a key player and the best on defense this week as Front Range Christian lost to Wiggins. The 5-foot-10 junior.

Gary Rhoads was the most successful running back in 1A Metro this week. In 29 carries, he ran for 137 yards as Platte Canyon defeated the Panthers. Colton Hawk also contributed to the rushing game with 79 yards on the ground.

Howard put up the best numbers through the air as the Golddiggers bested Middle Park.

He was 10-16 with 0 interceptions.

6-foot-4 quarterback Tate Kastens of Denver Christian is the league leader in passing yards this season with 351. He has also thrown 3 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Morgan. The Clear Creek star has 10 catches for 202 yards.

An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Lyons takes on Estes Park. The Lions are in second place, while Brian Lund's team is in fifth place.

The Crusaders fell to Cornerstone Christian Academy 52-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kastens threw for 94 yards in the loss.
