Archbishop Mitty is a perfect 9-0 against Leland since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Monarchs will square off against the Chargers at 12:00 p.m. Archbishop Mitty will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Archbishop Mitty took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Bellarmine College Prep by a score of 5-2. The victory was some much needed relief for the Monarchs as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Leland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Willow Glen.

Sam Mao spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Leland's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 5-2 (and 2-15 when he doesn't).

Archbishop Mitty's win bumped their record up to 12-14. As for Leland, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-17.

Archbishop Mitty took their victory against Leland in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 13-3 score. Will the Monarchs repeat their success, or do the Chargers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
