Softball Recap: Martinsville Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

Martinsville's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They walked away with a 12-7 victory over the Bedford North Lawrence Stars. For the Artesians, this counts as revenge for the 12-9 win the Stars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2023.

The team relied heavily on Aubrie Shepherd, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Mylee Jarrett, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Martinsville hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in five consecutive games.

Martinsville's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-16. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.8 runs over those games. As for Bedford North Lawrence, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-11.

Martinsville and Bedford North Lawrence should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Artesians will challenge Bloomington North at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (104 vs. 215). Meanwhile, Bedford North Lawrence (ranked 43rd) will meet Southridge (ranked 185th) at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
