Softball Recap: Old Colony RVT Has No Trouble Against Avon

It was a proper cat-fight when Old Colony RVT faced off against Avon on Thursday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the Panthers. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won nine in a row.

Kayleigh DeSousa made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. DeSousa was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Maeve Hunter was a standout: she scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Yelle, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Old Colony RVT now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Avon, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Old Colony RVT didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 20-0 defeat against Bristol-Plymouth RVT on the 11th. As for Avon, they will head out to challenge Upper Cape Cod RVT at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
