Basketball Recap: First Baptist Academy Takes a Loss

First Baptist Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by Providence Academy 77-38. The Eagles were probably out for revenge after losing 65-33 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Leading Providence Academy to victory were Kinley Painter and Kennedy Phillips. Painter went 9 of 21 on her way to 21 points in addition to seven steals and six assists, while Phillips went 7 for 11 en route to 16 points and four steals. Painter has been hot for a while, having posted 19 or more points the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Rowan Gilmer, who posted 13 points.

First Baptist Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Providence Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.

First Baptist Academy has already played their next game (against Berean Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Providence Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 61-24 loss against Grace Christian Academy on the 24th.
