Argonaut hasn't had much luck against El Dorado recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Argonaut Mustangs are taking a road trip to take on the El Dorado Cougars at 3:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Argonaut took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Everything went their way against Calaveras as Argonaut made off with a 10-2 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Mustangs have posted against the Red Hawks since April 18, 2023.

Marcus Scaife was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.
Scaife wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sam Jones, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs Jones has posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, El Dorado got the win against Antelope on Wednesday by a conclusive 18-5. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won four contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Like Argonaut, El Dorado also got a great game from a two-way player: JJ Allen. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Allen was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of El Dorado's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-4 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Jackson Miller was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for El Dorado: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Garrison Ewing, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
El Dorado always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Argonaut's record is now 4-2. As for El Dorado, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Argonaut has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like El Dorado struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
