Softball Recap: Piedmont Wins Going Away Against Hayward

While Piedmont put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Hayward. The Highlanders blew past the Farmers 15-0. The victory continues a trend for the Highlanders in their matchups with the Farmers: they've now won seven in a row.

Miya Fujimoto made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Angelina Wu was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Edie Elmquist, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Piedmont's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Hayward, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Looking ahead, Piedmont will welcome Salesian College Preparatory at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hayward, they will head out to face off against Tennyson at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
