Softball Game Preview: South Pemiscot Bulldogs vs. Campbell Camels

The South Pemiscot Bulldogs are taking a road trip to challenge the Campbell Camels at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Pemiscot has three straight wins, Campbell has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

South Pemiscot will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Holcomb, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. South Pemiscot blew past Holcomb 13-3 on Monday. Considering the Bulldogs have won three matchups by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Phoenix Simmons made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Simmons was even better at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Ayleighonna Farmer was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Mia Gonzalez was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

South Pemiscot was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holcomb only posted a batting average of .176.

Meanwhile, Campbell lost 13-2 to Portageville on Monday.

South Pemiscot's record is now 3-1. As for Campbell, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Everything went South Pemiscot's way against Campbell in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as South Pemiscot made off with a 15-0 victory. Will South Pemiscot repeat their success, or does Campbell has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
