Chavez has gone 8-2 against Poly recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Eagles will face off against the Parrots at 3:30 p.m. Chavez is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
While Chavez's win against Arleta wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Mustangs 7-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Jessica Ramos and Alyssa Anaya did most of the damage at the plate: Ramos got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one RBI, while Anaya went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Anaya has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Vida Gomez, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Chavez was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Poly ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past San Fernando 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Parrots have posted since April 26, 2024.
ISABELLA NAVARRO made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing eight innings while giving up seven earned runs off eight hits. NAVARRO was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on TAYLA COLLINS, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. ROCHELLE MORENO was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Chavez's record is now 11-12. As for Poly, their record now sits at 8-11.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Chavez hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. However, it's not like Poly struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Chavez took their win against Poly when the teams last played two weeks ago by a conclusive 11-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
