Basketball Preview: Hampton Christian Academy Warriors vs. Portsmouth Christian Patriots

The Hampton Christian Academy Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Portsmouth Christian Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hampton Christian Academy is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.

Hampton Christian Academy stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They blew past Gateway Christian, posting a 66-28 win on the road. Given Hampton Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the are ranked 374th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hampton Christian Academy can attribute much of their success to Jayla Crosby, who scored 29 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals, and Mikaela Lee, who dropped a triple-double on 24 points, 12 rebounds, and 21 steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Crosby has scored all season. Lexie Dennis was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven steals and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Portsmouth Christian had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 40-25 victory over Gateway Christian on Friday. The victory was just what Portsmouth Christian needed coming off of a 46-21 loss in their prior matchup.

Hampton Christian Academy's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-0. As for Portsmouth Christian, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-14.

Hampton Christian Academy beat the Patriots 55-46 in their previous matchup back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hampton Christian Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
