Basic hasn't had much luck against Foothill recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Wolves will host the Falcons at 6:30 p.m. Basic knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matchups -- so hopefully Foothill likes a good challenge.
On Tuesday, Basic got the win against Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon by a conclusive 74-50. The Wolves pushed the score to 60-33 by the end of the third, a deficit the Pirate cut but never quite recovered from.

Basic's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hudson Yakubik, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Yakubik a new career-high in blocks (five). Jeremiah Combs was another key player, shooting 64% from the field on his way to 16 points along with seven boards and five steals.
Basic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Foothill). They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Silverado 91-64. The win continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Skyhawks: they've now won nine in a row.
Basic better keep an eye on Clinton Ezugha. He was instrumental in Foothill's win, dropping a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds. They are 3-1 when Ezugha posts ten or more boards, but 8-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Packer Kelley, who went 10-for-15 en route to 20 points.
Basic's victory bumped their record up to 9-13. As for Foothill, the win got them back to even at 11-11.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Basic has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 32.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Foothill struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.6 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Basic couldn't quite get it done against Foothill when the teams last played back in December of 2024 as they fell 65-57. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
