Sunbelt recap November 5, 2013
Heritage added to the longest winning streak in Sunbelt this week by beating Lakeside, 49-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Perris scaled the state rankings by moving to 802 from 830 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Panthers climbed the ranks as a result of losing to Elsinore 49-14.
Perris' dynamic duo of Carlevon Manuel and Aaron Berry proved tough for the Tigers to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Manuel threw for 282 yards and 2 touchdowns and Berry had 89 yards receiving. Alvin Prigett helped Perris' passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 58 yards.
He went 17-32 with 2 interceptions.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Paloma Valley's Brent Boehm and Michael Valencia have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-0 quarterback Boehm has thrown for 1,815 yards this season, while Valencia has 27 catches for 480 yards. Limihai Hifo from Heritage leads the league in rushing with 987 yards.
The Wildcats' Boehm is within 185 passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against the Lancers.
Hifo of the Kraig Broach's team is only 13 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 101 carries Hifo has put up 987 yards this year.
An important game coming up in Sunbelt this week will be when Tony Peralta's team takes on the Patriots. At the moment, the Tigers are in third, while Heritage is in second.
Lakeside lost to the Patriots 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Mark Ramolete was a bright spot for Andrew Penwarden's team, as he ran for 37 yards and caught 2 passes for 13 yards in the loss.
