Basketball Recap: Coral Gables Takes a Loss

If Coral Gables was feeling good fresh off their 50-19 takedown of TERRA Environmental on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Coral Gables Cavaliers came up short against Lourdes Academy on Saturday, falling 59-35. The Cavaliers lost against Lourdes Academy in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 61-15 score last time.

Sophia Sandoval was her usual excellent self, putting up 29 points for Lourdes Academy. That makes it four consecutive games in which Sandoval has scored at least a third of Lourdes Academy's points.

Coral Gables now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Lourdes Academy, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-3 record.

Coral Gables wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 49-37 loss against Immaculata-La Salle on the 9th. As for Lourdes Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 52-6 win against Coral Reef on the 9th.
