Basketball Recap: Ankeny Comes Up Short

If Ankeny was feeling good fresh off their 79-36 takedown of Urbandale last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Ankeny Hawks lost 50-27 to the Dowling Catholic Maroons on Tuesday. The Hawks haven't had much luck with the Maroons recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Ankeny's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Dowling Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.

Ankeny will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Sioux City East on February 22nd. Sioux City East knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Ankeny likes a good challenge. Dowling Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
